Audacity is a free, open source software that is used to edit audio and recordings. One of the more popular things audacity is used for is to record live audio such as podcasts, teleseminars, and more. You can also use Audacity software to edit recording settings like speed of playback, combine different sounds, edit mp3 files, and even convert those ancient tapes and records into CDs.
You can also use audacity to combine two or more recordings into one file. Below are step-by-step easy to follow instructions:
First, you will need to make sure both of your files have been imported into the Audacity software. Once you have both files imported you will then need to click on the second file’s label to select it.
The next step is to go to the Edit menu and choose the Find Zero Crossings option. Once you’ve selected that option right click and choose Cut from the edit menu.
Once you’ve cut the second file, simply paste the file at the end of the first audio by clicking at the end, right clicking and select the Paste option.
Viola! You have now combined two audios into one! To hear how it sounds simply choose Play. Once you have it just the way you want it, from the File menu choose Export and save it as it’s own file.
